Jerry Jiang
Sports Journalist
His Story
Jerry Jiang is a fifth-year senior at Pepperdine University where he majors in journalism and is expected to graduate in Spring 2023.
​
Following his collegiate career, Jerry will be spending the summer in Memphis, TN as a sports reporting intern with the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
​
Jerry is part of the esteemed Sports Journalism Institute's 31st class — a program that helps promote women and minorities in newsrooms.
​
A lifelong fan of the Golden State Warriors, Jerry's journey into sports journalism started as he witnessed the Warriors historic five year run from 2014-2019.
Inspired by the coverage of the Warriors, Jerry combined his strengths in writing and passion for sports and dove into sports media.

At Foothill College, Jerry spent two years honing in his skills and earned an Associates Degree in Communication Studies and graduated with Honors.
​
When Jerry made the move to Pepperdine, Jerry quickly rose through the ranks and became the sports editor of the school's newspaper the Pepperdine Graphic in a year's time.
Additionally, Jerry also sought out opportunities outside of school and became a freelance contributor to a site that covers his favorite team called TheWarriorsTalk.
Jerry also earned an internship with FOX Sports and spent 10 weeks with the Assignment Desk where he clipped and edited packages for various affiliates.

Aside from these accomplishments, Jerry is also a proud member of the Asian American Journalist Association and founded Pepperdine's first AAJA student-chapter.
Jerry is passionate about increasing diversity in the newsroom and hopes he could continue that passion throughout his career.
